Chefs de France

We took an anniversary trip to Disneyworld, hoping for a chance to enjoy the parks without the kids and explore more of the sit down restaurant options. Having both lived in France, my wife and I were skeptical of any "Paris" restaurants. We had been looking for the amazing taste and quality of French food throughout the United States. Nothing we had tasted had come close. The Paris section of the world showcase itself is impressive, we were whisked away to Europe with the architecture and overall feel. We checked into Chef's de France and enjoyed watching Serveur Amusant, an exciting French themed acrobat performance in front of the restaurant. The interior felt like we had walked in from the Champs-Élysée and into a bustling yet charming lunch service.

I noticed that everyone greeted us with a “bonjour” and read the French cities they’re from on their name-tags. Upon asking I found out that it was a requirement to be from France to work there. This is a small touch that is found in all of the countries in world showcase. As we looked over the menu of classic French cuisine we noticed a prix fixe menu that was pretty appealing, your choice of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. This was the perfect option for lunch at a very good price. We ordered and were given fresh baguettes to eat while we waited, this is where Chef’s made itself a “must visit” for me. French bread is unique and Disney understands that in order to bring guests authentic French bread, they have to ship in French ingredients, finally, there is a place in the U.S. where you can enjoy a truly authentic French experience!

Try the Soupe à l’oignon gratinée (French Onion Soup), and don’t miss the Boeuf Bourguignon, polenta crémeuse (Beef Short Ribs) or the Canard aux cerises (Duck Breast with Cherries). Indulge in Crème Brûlée done right!

We keep returning to Chef’s for the delectable food and our kids enjoy the place as well. Be sure to try out Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie for traditional french pastries and sandwiches!
