Disney World For Adults
I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the phrase “Disney is for kids” more time than I have rode Space Mountain.But yet here I am at 29, in an adult Disney group, and we do some quite, non-kid fun things, at Disney. Check out 5 of my favorites!
1) Check out YeHaa Bob at River’s Roost at Port Orleans Riverside
This show is a combination of slap stick humor, hysterical audience participation, comedy, and musical talent. Best part? It’s FREE. You don’t have to be staying at this resort to enjoy the entertainment. His range of music includes the Beatles, Elvis as well as popular commercial ads. Bob may be family friendly, but you can enjoy his humor while drinking a variety of different wines and beers.
2) The California Grill
Ever wanted to eat on top of the world? And by top of the world, I mean top of Disney World. This place has atmosphere that is crazy romantic, and the food is divine. I had the pleasure of eating here, and the experience was remarkable. This restaurant is located inside the Contemporary Resort, and conveniently located on the monorail line, across the way from the Magic Kingdom. You will be greeted at a desk, and when your table is ready, you will be taken by elevator, and escorted to the top of the world. The wine selection is prestige with a huge selection and variety. Try to get a reservation around 7:30 pm – 8:00 pm, because typically at 9:00 pm the Fireworks will start, and you have the option to stand on the terrace for one of the best views Disney offers.
3) Do a monorail crawl This is an activity my friends and I have become experts in, and enjoy doing. We start at the Polynesian at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, ride the monorail to The Grand Floridian and enjoy the classic elegance that this remarkable resort has to offer, while finishing off with a ride to the Contemporary Resort at the Wave Lounge.
a) Trader Sam’s is a little hidden gem that I can easily spend hours at. After 8 pm the lounge becomes 21 and up only. Each cocktail ordered comes with a little skit, and some of the bar stools heights are adjusted randomly. The lights are crazy, a fake volcano erupts, and guests are asked to participate.
b) There are two different lounges to hang out in at the Grand Floridian. Mizner’s lounge and Citricos lounge. I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing both. They are both quiet and cozy. Very different then Trader Sam’s. You can hear the live band at both lounges. Citrico’s has a little bit more room to spread out and has a view of the fireworks.
c) The Wave Lounge at the contemporary is a great place to grab a local beer and chill out under the blue lit atmosphere. The Wave restaurant is known to offer food from local farms in Florida, and update its menu seasonally. The Wave Lounge does the same thing with its huge craft beer selection. This lounge reminds me of being at a night club, without all the loud music.
4) Karaoke at Kiminos This location located at Disney’s Swan hotel, combines sushi and the art of Japanese karaoke. My friends and I have spent many nights hogging the microphone and giving free entertainment to people not asking for it. The price of sushi are reasonable, and the karaoke is free!
5) Jelly Rolls
Jelly Rolls is my absolute favorite hangout at Disney. It is a piano bar that serves popcorn. If you have never been to a piano bar, you are in for a treat. You have two piano bars/comedians playing anything and everything you request. Since this bar is 21 and up, it is not family friendly entertainment. You request a song on a cocktail. Throw down a little green with it and they will play your request while you belt out the lyrics and sing along with complete strangers.
