Sci-Fi Dine In Theater Restaurant

Yes, you read that right, it’s a theater that you eat in.This is a favorite spot for me to eat lunch while spending the day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This sit down restaurant is on a Hollywood Sound stage and is made to look like an old drive-in with the cars parked facing the movie screen. As you enter it’s always “night-time” so the lighting is dim and the taillights and headlights of the car booths are on. You get to sit in a car which can accommodate up to six people or the picnic style tables near the center or around the back of the theater. You get a car hop server who may or may not be on roller skates. Everything is themed from the cars to the concession stand kitchen in the back to the twinkling stars overhead. While seated you are facing the movie screen which plays clips from science fiction movies, mostly B movies such as, “Attack of the 50 Foot Tall Women”, “Plan 9 from Outer Space, and some old clips with Walt Disney himself. Sometimes the staff or patrons get involved with the movie clips by repeating lines or screaming at the right moment. sci fi2 It is a nice break from a hot day in the parks and a good chance to sit and relax, it is a great reminder of days gone by. My Mother loves to eat here as it brings her back to the 50s when she would go watch movies at the drive-in. We usually get one of their terrific milkshakes and split our lunch. (The milkshake is so filling, but so good!) Food range options are from Burgers, Salmon BLT, Turkey Sandwich, Ribs, Vegetable Burger, Fried Dill Pickles, Wings, Milk Shakes, and many many more. Prices are from around $15 - $30 for an adult. Advanced Dining Reservations are highly recommended for this restaurant and can be made up to 180 days in advance. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/hollywood-studios/sci-fi-dine-in-theater/
